Bio

Kemal Önsoy was born in Egridir in 1954. He graduated from the Ergin İnan Studio in the Painting Department of State Applied Fine Arts Academy of Istanbul (currently known as Marmara University) in 1980. He worked in New York from 1990 to 1993. Önsoy had his first exhibition in Istanbul in 1979 and since then has regularly presented his works not only in Turkey but also in Italy and Brazil. He showed his work at the Venice Biennial in 1990, 4th Istanbul Biennial in 1995, 7th Istanbul Biennial in 2001 and São Paolo Biennial in 2002. Önsoy currently lives and works in Newyork.
