Bio

Devrim Erbil was born in Salihli in 1937. He graduated from the Painting Department of İstanbul Academy of Fine Arts (currently known as Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University). He performed researches and studies in various countries. He applies various techniques from paintings to unique prints and sees art under the integral light of these experiences. Erbil’s paintings reflect the versions of a common composition style under the name, “Anatolian Diversifications”. His works are the extensions of an activity that has started in the Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu Studio. Erbil has not only preserved the same texture after 1980s but also started a new era by emphasizing on vibrating images of İstanbul, birds and shores under the effects of light. He also uses abstractions from nature in some of his paintings. He lives in İstanbul and works as a member Doğuş University.

As one of its important activities, Detay Art has organized the Retrospective Exhibition of the Turkish Artist Devrim Erbil’s 50^th Anniversary at the Academy in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Tophane-i Amire Exhibition Hall and published the artist’s catalog.
